Maison en Bourgogne

A Contemporary Family Home in Rural France
Text by

We were invited to transform a former farmhouse in the Burgundy countryside into a contemporary family home. In close collaboration with the clients and local architect Drubigny Architecte, we sought to preserve the rural character of the ensemble while rethinking its spatial logic for modern living.

We opened up the ground floor to create a luminous central living space that connects to the surrounding landscape, anchored by a bold concrete cross-column and a warm red terrazzo floor. These elements express the new intervention while tying both wings of the house into a cohesive whole.

Natural materials, including oak, natural stone, and locally sourced finishes, bring warmth and texture throughout. Custom furniture and built-in elements were designed specifically for the owners, creating a seamless integration of architecture and daily life.

Maison en Bourgogne is a quiet balance between past and present. A rural home reimagined with care, craft, and contemporary clarity.
