Petit Caron, a stone’s throw from Cafe Caron, has been warmly welcoming guests since last week. A fully opening pivot door and seamless terrazzo floor invite you into the ambiance, blending street energy with the interior. Inside, three central bars with terrazzo tops and brass details provide flexible dining spaces. Every detail, including brass accents and mirrors, enhances the cosy atmosphere. A signature piece of art by Kaspar Dejong adds a unique and colourful touch to the space.
Founder and co-owner David Caron states, “With the move of Petit Caron into the Frans Halsstraat, we decided to strip it of its old ambiance and redefine what Petit Caron is all about: a bar à manger. To establish a healthy contrast between Petit Caron and neighbouring Café Caron, we set out to create a space that feels casual yet elegant. Our goal is to build a place that feels whole by itself but also a welcome addition for an extended Caron experience across the two places.” He continues, “The originality and innovation of Dam & Partners Architecten have ensured that this idea of Petit Caron has been shaped in the best way, creating a place that feels authentic yet contemporary.”
“Our work often revolves around the feeling of comfort,” mentions Diederik Dam. “At Petit Caron, the design takes this concept even further. There is an idea of comfort and mild confusion. The guest and the service space interlink seamlessly, so the guests feel both incredibly well-served and fully at ease. Whether you are seated at the bar or a table, you are embraced by the cosy street bar feel.”
Patrons enjoy a visually and gastronomically satisfying culinary experience at Petit Caron. The high-quality materials, cuisine, and casual street bar ambiance make it a standout in Amsterdam’s vibrant dining scene.
