Frankly Amsterdam specializes in made-to-measure interior textiles, seamlessly blending craftsmanship and design. Among their distinguished collection are carpets designed by our lead architect Diederik Dam. His unique perspective as an architect and his passion for graphic design, inherited from his mother, graphic designer Josephine Dam-Holt, shine through in the meticulous precision and structural clarity of his work.
Crafted using a 3D tufting technique with mohair yarn, the carpets are then cut by hand using a special carving and ramping method. This technique creates the appearance of building blocks cloaked in textile, offering a dynamic interplay of texture and form.
The carpets can be experienced on multiple levels—from their conceptual underpinnings to the smallest details. In this work, detail plays an essential role in shaping both the experience and practical use of a space. A well-designed rug becomes as integral to a room as the architecture surrounding it, perfectly balancing form and function.
