Frankly Amsterdam specializes in made-to-measure interior textiles. Their newest carpets are designed by Dutch architect Diederik Dam. Both his perspective as an architect and love for graphic design, which he inherited from his mother, graphic designer Josephine Dam-Holt, are clearly visible in the precision and structure of the designs. After tufting mohair yarn in a 3D technique, the carpets are cut by hand using a special carving and ramping technique. This creates the appearance of building blocks covered with textile.

The rug can be experienced at different levels – from concept to detail. In this work, the detail plays an important role for the experience and use of a shape or space. The design of a rug is just as essential as the design of the space around it.
